Landscape Painting Workshop
with instructor Naomi MarinoTwo Weekends, four full days
Saturday &  Sunday, September 30th & October 1st
Saturday & Sunday, October 7th & 8th

$580, not including materials (28 hours).

Morning session 9am-1pm
Afternoon session 3-6pm
This course will include a lecture, demos, and frequent individual critiques while paintings are in progress. We will be working in a variety of settings, both inland and coastal. A long lunch break of two hours will allow time to eat, re-energize, and drive to our afternoon location. Class size will be limited to allow for a greater degree of attention to individual students needs.

This plein air class will cover how to go about painting a landscape from start to finish using an alla prima (wet into wet) technique as well as creating an underpainting using a wiping back technique. As a genre, landscape allows for a lot of interpretation and freedom in composition, and yet for those same reasons it can be quite challenging. We will work through a series of steps that will render the process of painting out-of-doors rewarding and fun!

Topics covered will include:
Site selection and composition
Simplification and massing
Tonal value, hue, and chroma in the landscape
Atmospheric perspective
How to work with shifting light
